How does Membrane work?
Upload a chat export and our AI reads the whole conversation, then builds a structured profile of each person in it — how they talk, what they care about, the history you share. Those profiles become searchable and let you ask questions in plain English.
Which chats can I upload?
WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, and Instagram exports, plus plain journal entries. Drop a .txt, .json, or .zip up to 20MB and pick the platform — Membrane parses the rest.
What happens to my raw chat files?
Your raw export is deleted within 24 hours of processing — on every plan, at every privacy tier. Only the derived profile text and its embeddings persist. In Settings → Privacy you choose how much else is kept, from Strict (keep almost nothing) to Accurate (keep more for richer extraction).
Does it make things up?
No. Profiles are built only from what's actually in your chats — Membrane won't invent traits or fill blanks with guesses. If it isn't in the conversation, it won't show up in the profile.
Who owns my data — can I export or delete it?
You do. Export everything — profiles, mentions, and sources — from Settings whenever you want. Deleting your account erases all of it — profile rows, the relationship graph, and embeddings — within 24 hours. No exceptions, no shadow copies.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
Free builds core profiles with basic search. Pro ($20/mo) unlocks unlimited chats & profiles, semantic search (ask "who likes motorcycles?" and it finds them by meaning), the relationship graph, and automatic cross-referencing between people.
