1. The Core Privacy Promise

Membrane converts raw chat exports into structured personal intelligence profiles. Our architecture is built around three foundational privacy guarantees:

• 24-Hour Raw Deletion: Any raw chat export file (.txt, .json, .zip) you upload is completely purged from temporary storage within 24 hours of processing. Only the structured profile text and mathematical embeddings you inspect in the app persist.
• Zero AI Training: Your chat messages, personality profiles, and questions are NEVER used to train, tune, or improve any public or foundational AI model.
• Complete Account Purge: When you delete your account or contact profiles, we remove all associated Postgres records, embeddings, and encrypted vector indices.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and authentication credentials managed securely via Better Auth.

Uploads & Derived Data: We temporarily process chat files you upload to extract contacts, relationship traits, and timeline events. Once extracted, the raw source files are scheduled for automatic deletion via automated background cron jobs.

3. AI Processing & Infrastructure

AI inference is performed via zero-data-retention enterprise endpoints. Context snippets sent to models during chat retrieval are guarded by dynamic unforgeable delimiter tokens to prevent prompt injection and data leakage.

4. Your Rights & Data Portability

You retain complete ownership of your relationship data. At any time in Settings → Data, you can download a full archive of your profiles in open JSON or Markdown format, or permanently delete individual contacts or your entire account.
